Every person deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling, meaningful life, regardless of the challenges they may face. At the heart of our service is a simple belief: people with additional needs should be empowered to make their own choices, develop their skills, and participate fully in their communities.

Putting People First

Person-centred support means recognising that every individual is unique. No two people have the same goals, strengths, or aspirations. That's why we take the time to understand each person's interests, preferences, and ambitions before developing support that is tailored specifically to them.

Whether someone wants to learn new life skills, gain employment, make friends, or simply become more independent in their daily routine, we work alongside them every step of the way.

Building Confidence Through Everyday Achievements

Confidence doesn't appear overnight—it grows through positive experiences and encouragement. We celebrate every achievement, no matter how big or small.

From learning to cook a favourite meal and travelling independently to joining a local club or volunteering within the community, each milestone helps build self-esteem and opens the door to new opportunities.

Promoting Independence

Independence means different things to different people. For some, it may involve managing finances or maintaining a home. For others, it may be developing communication skills, making informed decisions, or accessing community activities confidently.

Our role is not to do things for people, but to support them in doing things for themselves wherever possible. This approach encourages personal growth, resilience, and long-term independence.

Connecting with the Community

Being part of a community creates a sense of belonging. We actively encourage individuals to engage in local activities, build friendships, explore hobbies, and access education, employment, or volunteering opportunities.

Strong community connections help reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, and create lasting relationships that enrich people's lives.

Working Together with Families

Families and carers play an important role in the lives of many people we support. We believe in open communication and collaborative working to ensure everyone feels informed, respected, and involved.

By working together, we can create the best possible outcomes for the individuals we support.

Our Commitment

Our mission is simple: to empower people with additional needs to build confidence, develop independence, and live fulfilling lives through person-centred, community-based support.

Every individual has potential. With the right support, encouragement, and opportunities, they can achieve their goals, realise their ambitions, and enjoy a life filled with purpose, choice, and inclusion.

Together, we are building stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to feel included, valued, and connected within their community. Our passion for supporting people with additional needs has always been at the heart of everything we do, and it is this passion that inspired us to create J&V Activity Buddies and Hummingbird Community Activities.

As Personal Assistants, we provide person-centred support that helps people with additional needs live more independently while remaining active members of their local community. We believe that support should be about more than meeting daily needs—it should empower people to pursue their interests, build confidence, develop new skills, and enjoy meaningful experiences.

We recognised that many individuals with additional needs face barriers to accessing social activities, making friends, and participating in community life. That's why we created services that promote inclusion, independence, confidence, and wellbeing.

At J&V Activity Buddies, we offer personalised support tailored to each individual's goals, interests, and abilities. Whether it's attending local events, visiting places of interest, enjoying leisure activities, learning new skills, shopping, accessing appointments, or simply having someone to share experiences with, we are there to provide encouragement and support every step of the way.

Through Hummingbird Community Activities, we bring people together by creating inclusive, engaging, and accessible group activities that encourage friendship, creativity, learning, and a sense of belonging. We believe that when people are given the right support and opportunities, they can thrive and become active participants in their communities.

Everything we do is guided by compassion, dignity, respect, and the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling life. We take the time to understand each individual's aspirations and provide support that is tailored to their unique needs, helping them achieve goals that matter to them.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone gain confidence, discover new interests, build lasting friendships, or accomplish something they once thought was out of reach. These moments inspire us every day and remind us why we began this journey.

Our mission is simple: to provide high-quality personal assistant services and inclusive community activities that empower people with additional needs to live independently, connect with others, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Because everyone deserves the opportunity to participate, belong, and flourish. 🌼

Every person deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling life, make meaningful connections, and actively participate in their community. For people with disabilities and additional support needs, having the right support can make all the difference. Personal assistants play a vital role in empowering individuals to live independently, build confidence, and become active members of their local communities.

More Than Just Support

A personal assistant does far more than help with daily tasks. They provide encouragement, companionship, and practical support that enables people to make their own choices and live life on their own terms.

Whether it's assisting with personal care, attending appointments, shopping, learning new skills, or participating in hobbies, personal assistants help individuals achieve greater independence while respecting their dignity, preferences, and goals.

The Importance of Community Connections

Being part of a community is essential for everyone's wellbeing. Friendships, social activities, volunteering, education, and employment opportunities all contribute to a happier, healthier life.

Unfortunately, many people with disabilities experience isolation due to barriers such as limited transport, lack of accessible activities, or insufficient support. Personal assistants help remove these barriers by encouraging participation in community events, supporting individuals to join local groups, and creating opportunities to develop lasting relationships.

These connections not only improve quality of life but also build confidence, reduce loneliness, and promote mental wellbeing.

Creating Inclusive Communities

Inclusion means ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute, and feel valued regardless of their abilities.

An inclusive community recognises that diversity makes us stronger. It provides accessible environments, welcomes different perspectives, and supports people to reach their full potential.

Personal assistants contribute to inclusion by helping individuals access community spaces, advocate for their needs, and participate in activities that many people take for granted. They help bridge the gap between individuals and the wider community, ensuring no one is left behind.

Empowering Independence

Support should never be about doing everything for someone—it should be about enabling people to do as much as they can for themselves.

Good personal assistants work alongside individuals, encouraging independence, developing life skills, and promoting confidence. Every achievement, no matter how small, represents progress towards greater self-determination and a more independent future.

A Community That Benefits Everyone

When people with disabilities are fully included, everyone benefits. Communities become more compassionate, workplaces become more diverse, and friendships are enriched by different experiences and perspectives.

Inclusion is not simply about accessibility; it is about belonging. It is about recognising that every person has unique talents, contributions, and value.

By supporting individuals to connect with their communities, personal assistants help create a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Looking Ahead

Building inclusive communities is a shared responsibility. Families, support workers, local organisations, businesses, and community members all have a role to play in creating welcoming environments where everyone feels respected and included.

Together, we can break down barriers, celebrate diversity, and ensure that people with disabilities have every opportunity to live independently, build meaningful relationships, and enjoy the same opportunities as everyone else.

Because true inclusion isn't about treating everyone the same—it's about ensuring everyone has the support they need to succeed.
